PROJECT PROFILE

Coburg

Nestled in the leafy streets of Coburg, this Californian Bungalow is home to a professional couple with two teenage sons and a dog.

Now that the boys are older, my clients wanted to invest and create a comfortable and inviting Living and Dining area in the light-filled rear of the house.

A fireplace was added along with cabinetry for storage and display. The design incorporates contemporary elements and finishes combined with proportions and detailing that reference the original 1920s period of the home.

Working with the existing palette of the Kitchen, wallpaper and brass were used to complement the warm timber flooring and olive tones. An Art Deco-inspired rug introduces blocks of playful coloured shapes.
The custom furniture focuses on comfort and texture. Full height bay windows provide a natural focal point for the armchair and ottoman - a favourite spot to read and snooze.

The original dark-stained dining table and chairs were replaced with lighter timber pieces, creating a greater sense of space and cohesion.

The family enjoy entertaining and relaxing in the new spaces.
